2012 Waverly Heritage Days – Welcome!

Welcome to our Waverly Heritage Days web site! We are proud of our web site and thank you for taking time to check us out. Here you will find information covering all facets of the 2012 Waverly Heritage Days Silver Celebration such as the parade, Hall of Fame, entertainment, food vendors, schedule of events, a list of the Waverly Heritage Days committee members and opportunities to contact us.

Our 2012 theme is “Waverly Heritage Days Silver Celebration” because we want to honor and recognize the proud 25 year history of what started as Waverly Heritagefest and is now Waverly Heritage Days. To show our appreciation of the past Waverly Heritage Days committees and celebrations, we are honoring the Original Waverly Heritage Days/Heritagefest Board of Directors as the Grand Marshal’s for our 25th “Silver Celebration” Annual Parade. Those honored this year are: Mary Ackerman, Mary Cheville, Don Feuerhak, Janet Hurley and Geneva Liebau. We would also like to recognize Russell Solheim and Sally Strottman who are deceased. From the current Waverly Heritage Days committee to the Original Board of Directors, we say “Thank You” for starting Heritage Days/Heritagefest and providing an annual summer event that Waverly has come to love. A HUGE thanks goes out to ALL past and current Heritage Days/Heritagefest committee members and leaders. We think our lineup of activities in 2012 will reflect our “Waverly Heritage Days Silver Celebration” theme and everyone will find something they enjoy.

We have the usual popular events such as the Hall of Fame ceremony, Vic Ferrari Band, Sugar Daddy’s, Floyd Junker and the Beaver Creek Bluegrass Band, Beau Timmerman, fireworks, Hideaway Lounge and food vendors PLUS we would like to announce some additions to this year’s lineup.

Boxkar will take the Heritage Days Stage Saturday evening. Boxkar opened for Vic Ferrari in 2009 on the Waverly Heritage Days Stage to rave reviews and we are able to bring Boxkar back this year due to our original Saturday band, Chasin’ Mason signing a national recording contract. I guess it just shows that when you play at Waverly Heritage Days, big things eventually happen!!!

Boxkar is a five piece rock-pop group led by front man Chris Szebeni that has done it all with radio worthy tunes, contagious passion, captivating stage presence and professional level talent. Not to mention their relentless drive, life sacrifices, attention to detail and mature approach to their love of music and business. Simply put, Boxkar is poised to hit the national scene…and make an impact.

London’s famous Classic Rock Magazine, rated Boxkar’s third CD “Comin’ Out Swingin'” higher than many International releases. This CD also was recognized in Boxkar’s home state of Wisconsin at the WAMI music award show as the CD of the year. Recently, the band has finished recording a new CD at the Goo Goo Doll’s studio in Buffalo, NY and it waiting to be released. Boxkar has also produced a live concert DVD recently. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!!!

This year we are proud to add the “40th or So” Waverly-Shell Rock High School Stage Band Reunion Concert led by Waverly-Shell Rock alumni Ken Huck. Their show is described as a musical performance by Waverly-Shell Rock High School band graduates who attended high school in Waverly from the late 60’s through the late 70’s. Musical numbers will include tunes played in the era, interspersed with members recalling favorite or memorable events. Be sure to look for all the Waverly-Shell Rock alumni that will be present for this show! A big thanks to Ken Huck and the Waverly-Shell Rock alumni band members for putting this together!!

We feel with Vic Ferrari on Friday night and Boxkar on Saturday night, Waverly Heritage Days offers some of the BEST FREE stage entertainment ANYWHERE! Throw in the Sugar Daddy’s at the Hall of Fame Ceremony, Floyd Junker and the Beaver Creek Bluegrass Band playing to a full house in the Hideaway Lounge and Beau Timmerman back for a return engagement playing all of your favorite rock and country tunes in the Hideaway Lounge and the Waverly-Shell Rock alumni band, we have music for all generations at Waverly Heritage Days and it’s all FREE!!

The Waverly Heritage Days Hideaway Lounge will be back with the big tent for all your beverage and dining needs featuring more tables, lights and entertainment. We hope you can visit the Heritage Days Hideaway Lounge! There are a few new food vendors in 2012 so check them out on the “Food and Drink” page!!

We strive to keep all events free so that everyone can attend and are hoping for record crowds in 2012 as we observe 25 years of past Waverly Heritage Days celebrations! We just ask that all coolers and carry-ins are left at home and that guests support the Waverly Heritage Days vendors.

Enjoy your weekend at Waverly Heritage Days July 20-22, 2012 and have some fun in Waverly!!!
